President's Budget Slashes Drug Education Programs

On February 6, the President released his FY 2007 budget request. In it, he recommended the elimination of the State Grants portion of the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities (SDFSC) program. Eliminating this program would effectively remove federal funding for substance abuse prevention and intervention in the vast majority of the nation’s school systems.
