LifeLines Publishing Criteria
Items submitted for publication in LifeLines should strive to make EVERY member (no matter how much or how little he/she participates, or in what format) feel positive about his/her self-appointed affiliation with LifeRing.
The following criteria will be used to select submitted content items to publish in each issue:
  • Does the item fall within the 3S philosophy of LifeRing: Sobriety, Secularity, Self-Help?
  • Is the item likely to be of interest to LifeRing members?
  • Does the item qualify as information from members to members? (as opposed to, for example, promoting LifeRing to those outside of the organization)
  • Is the item relevant to the theme of the issue (for issues that have themes) or is it related to another item in this issue?
  • How much space is available in this issue?
  • Does the item fit into an available space in this issue?
  • Is the item timely? For example, does the item have a deadline or date associated with it, or does the item pertain to a season, holiday, or personal event?
  • Is the item a regular feature or within the regular content areas of the newsletter? Regular features and content categories may receive precedence over submissions “at large.”
  • Is the item of sufficient quality for publication or does it require significant rework?
  • Has the item been published elsewhere? (We will not publish items without appropriate permission from the copyright holder.)
  • Does the item include accompanying graphics, photos, or other visuals? (Visuals make items more interesting to readers.)
Other criteria may be applied based on the discretion of the LifeLines Editorial Board. The LifeLines Editorial Board has final say on all content issues and reserves the right to refuse to publish any submitted items for any reason.

The LifeLines Edtorial Board reserves the right to interpret, implement, and revise this policy.

As always, we welcome questions and feedback about our policies.
