HEART SONG

Child - young adult - the past,
Quickly gone and faded.
Is there nothing that will last -
Not die or become jaded?

I see the children, arms wide
Laughing at the beautiful blue sky
And here inside I hide
Miserably asking why.

In the mirror on the wall
I see a care worn face.
How did summer get to fall?
Where did I lose my youth and grace?

I look deep down into my heart
And I feel a warm glow growing.
I see my life become a part
Of the reaping and the sowing.

I feel my mother's hand
Slip comfortably into mine.
My son holds my other hand
So I see creations line.

I become the wise old sage
As also I'm the boy.
I take my place upon the stage
And my heart overflows with joy.
